Vic started screaming. Then he rolled up his sleeve. There was a huge bruise!

I looked at Amy. “Wow,” I said. “You’re a superhero!”

Vic rolled his eyes. “She didn’t give me this bruise,” he said. “This is from my vaccine shot!”

Now we were really shocked. No vaccines had gotten through to our town and everyone knew it.

“How did you get a vaccine?!” Amy asked.

“Last weekend I went out to my aunt’s place in Creekville,” Vic said. “They had tons of shots.”

“Well, that explains why you’re not sick even though you didn’t wear a mask,” I said.

“More importantly,” Amy said, “we know your weakness. So you better stop picking on Finn in gym class!”

My hero.
